Join University of Edinburgh researchers on Tuesday evenings in May and June to celebrate the 2014 International Year of Crystallography!

It has been 100 years since the development of X-ray diffraction, and also 400 years since Kepler’s observation of the symmetrical form of ice-crystals. Since its inception, crystallography has played an important role in almost every branch of science, driving forward the development of group theory in mathematics, letting biologists analyse DNA and proteins, allowing geologists to map the structure of the Earth, helping chemists develop new materials and letting physicists see the tiniest of particles.

In this series of talks we bring together researchers from a range of disciplines to talk about crystallography from its historical development through to current research. The talks are independent and can be attended individually, or as a whole series. They will be designed with an age 16+ audience in mind, but anyone is welcome to attend.

Tickets are free but limited, so please sign up (for each talk individually) through Eventbrite. Links to tickets may be found on our website: here.
