Niki Boyle, The List
"Southern Tenant Folk Union find themselves attracted to the horror realm on this atmospheric album – to horror film soundtracks and to the horrors of modern society…which makes a bright, Beatlesy response to shadowy authority figures, or to both in the case of Crash, which recreates the creepy synth arpeggios used in 1970s horror scores on a five-string banjo"

A Live Rescore of David Cronenberg’s Explosive Cult Classic ‘Scanners’ by The Southern Tenant & Rare Screening of 1957’s Classic Jacques Tourneur’s Chiller ‘The Night Of The Demon’

Edinburgh Zombie Club  and The Southern Tenant present two classic cinematic chillers to celebrate Halloween, David Cronenberg’s horrific psychic sci-fi flick ‘Scanners’ plus Jacques Tourneur’s 1957 demonic death curse movie ‘Night Of The Demon’. Scanners will have live musical accompaniment as electronic trio ‘The Southern Tenant’ (a synth based offshoot from Edinburgh’s acclaimed political folk band Southern Tenant Folk Union) will perform a brand new ‘re-score’ along with the film.

This Halloween come along to Summerhall as throbbing moog and synth bass explode into pulsating Cronenberg-ian action before you take Tourneur’s trip into black and white psychological terror. You will be scared…
