Silas Parry is a Scottish artist who works with materials that have lost their original purpose, using movement and sound to give objects life. Parry’s kinetic sculptures revolve around simple mechanics and analogue audio to re-imagine artefacts and their place in our psyche.

In his first UK solo exhibition, ‘Possibility of Life’, he will show a series of robotic taxidermy.  These kinetic sound-sculptures invest forgotten and lifeless relics with a new identity. They present a dystopian future: the processes of life, part-remembered and fading.  The natural world mimicking the echoes of industrial mechanics.

Parry views these jerky, half-conscious automatons as independent beings. The sound-scape at the core of each piece comes not from the artist but from the creatures themselves. We hear the vibrations and variances of their movement as they rustle up fresh breath from the dust.
