Love Match

The mainstream Actor takes on his first gay role… but what will his fans think? (His Agent isn’t too happy – she’s worried about her own private life. What if someone finds out?)

A straight man playing a gay character, but the Wife doesn’t think he’s up to it (or is it too close to home?)

The Writer wants to discuss issues, but the Boyfriend just wants to seduce the actor!

“Love Match” examines what it means to “play gay” in a straight world…

…and watch out for “the hands, David, the hands!”

It’s a comedy of manners for the gay world, going from love-all to match-point in two sets. How far would you go? What would you admit to? How much would you tell?

“Moved to Touch” & “Train to New Zealand”

The two plays from David Dalzell represent works-in-progress to a larger work which explores LGBT people’s need to feel connected. Through conversations, hung and framed on pieces of artwork, the vignettes explore journeys to re-connect fully within their lives (both in our intimate relationships, and within our communities).

The first “Moved to Touch” lightly touches on the humanity of a relationship as a couple explore their isolation from each other; whilst the second “Train to New Zealand” deals with inequality in our society’s recognition of same sex marriage (currently through religious inequality, and state inequality across the four UK nations). This piece touches on the seed of feeling disconnected within our community – shame.
