Mediterraneo and Nothing Ever Happens Here present Carnevale 2017! A wild night of Italian Pizzica, Klezmer, Balkan brass, Brazilian Samba, and masks… lots of masks!

It’s that time of the year when the world is upside-down. When Harlequin the Servant is master for the day. When the Fool is wise, the King is poor, and Music rules them all!

After sell out editions since 2013, Mediterraneo is back with its annual Carnevale concert, and this year it’ll be bigger than ever, with the mighty Tantz, The Badwills and TESS (The Edinburgh Samba School) taking the stage…over 25 musicians to bring Carnevale to town like never before.

This years co-headliners are one of the UK’s wildest Balkan, Klezmer and Gypsy Jazz aficionados, Tantz. Fresh from a huge year of playing festivals around the UK and Europe, including WOMAD, Secret Garden Party, Bestival, Fusion Festival (Germany) and the Brit Awards after party, they will be bringing their wild virtuosic take on south eastern European music crashing into Summerhall.

Alongside them, and to fire up your dancing feet, will be Mediterraneo’s hosts and Edinburgh’s very own The Badwills, bringing you their wild tambourine fuelled Pizzica, Tarantella and Tammurriata straight from the South of Italy.

Opening the night will be the mighty Edinburgh Samba School (TESS). A huge Brazilian fuelled collective of traditional percussion, guitars, dancing, and all the flamboyance of Rio’s epic carnival culture!  Rhythms so wild even your mask will start dancing!

Come, and tell your friends, shine your dancing shoes, and don’t forget to wear your best mask (or costume!).
