The Soldierʼs Song

Developed over an 18 month period of conversation and questions, The Soldier’s Song offers an intimate screen karaoke liaison with a currently serving soldier.

A simple, quietly provocative piece that questions our role as observer and the relationship we have with the person we meet on screen. The Soldier’s Song was originally commissioned by Leeds Studio Met with support from the Nuffield Theatre, Lancaster. Additional material developed with support from Fierce Festival.

A sanctuary for the secular world, or a sculptural work of romantic science fiction… Please explore and stay as long as you like. This piece is a prelude to the augmented-reality Quantum Physical project by Fringe First winner, Laura Cameron-Lewis. Parallel Lines has previously been shown at Arches Live and IETM in Glasgow, and the Different Sensations theatre festival in Italy. It is being staged at Summerhall in partnership with (g)Host City, Edinburgh’s virtual festival.

When We Meet Again (Introduced as Friends)

“When I first met you, you could see me but I couldn’t see you”, the invisible woman recounts. When We Meet Again is a wearable film and one-to-one performance, a bizarre sensuous experience featuring you, your invisible friend, a 3D soundtrack, an old forgotten dance, the ocean, a flavour and me.

Video filmed from a first person perspective and displayed on video goggles replaces your point of view with… someone else’s. When you look down you see a new body, a body through which you will move and encounter ghostly presences. Through a journey of meetings mediated by technology, blinded by vision, displaced by what you hear and see around you but you know is not really there, When We Meet Again wonders about the function (and de-function) of the body in our media inundated times.
