Fringe 2018 Press Office positions (APPLICATIONS CLOSED)

This application process is now closed.

Summerhall, Edinburgh’s biggest arts venue and award winning Fringe venue is now recruiting for our 2018 Fringe team.

Last year we looked after over 220,000 visitors and delivered over 2,200 performances in three and a half short, busy and exciting weeks.

Summerhall has committed to providing a safe and fair environment to work within. To that extent, amongst its many working conditions Summerhall pledges to give employees; legally entitled rest breaks, equal pay for young workers for the same roles as older workers, no unpaid trial shifts, consultation on rota changes and an environment free of discrimination on any grounds. Summerhall is also committed to paying hourly staff above minimum wage.

We are also proud to announce that Summerhall has achieved level one on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society’s Venue Access Award, and we are working towards reaching level two before Fringe 2018.

We require all applicants to be available to work for the full Fringe programme (1st August-26th August), including essential training over three dates in July between 23rd-25th, have a UK bank account and required visas to work within the UK. If you tick all of these boxes we want to hear from you.

We’ll be looking for brilliant people who know their way around social media, a meticulously organised inbox, have a good knowledge of UK (and international where possible) arts media, love watching and supporting live performance with good vibes and thoughtfulness, working as part of a team and getting things done on time. You will be responsible for ensuring the world’s media have access to our entire programme with no trouble, that they can find the information they need at the drop of a hat and always a warm experience coming into Summerhall during very busy festival schedules – all as well as being polite and helpful, even when under pressure, and conveying enthusiasm for, and knowledge of our diverse artistic programme.

The press office is essentially a busy office open 7 days a week, always with an open door to all media attending the fringe – from camera crews to theatre critics. If this sounds like an interesting place to be tell us why you should be part of the team. We are looking for several brilliant people to join our team, experience and contacts in the media may not be relevant if you can explain how working with the world’s theatre industry would be beneficial to you.
