PLEASE NOTE: THIS JOB IS NOT WITH SUMMERHALL MANAGEMENT LTD.

Job Title: Producer

Hours: approx. 5 days a month (March-May) rising to 20 days a month (June-August)

Remuneration: £135/day

Reports to: Lt Col Gordon Mackenzie

Army @ The Fringe are looking for a producer to help  deliver the Army@TheFringe venue for the third year.

A@TF is a collaboration with Summerhall to turn an Army Reserve Centre in East Claremont St into a space for contemporary performance during the Fringe. The work presented explores themes of resilience, diversity and courage, including exploring aspects of soldiering in different contexts. The venue supports the Army’s engagement work as well as promoting the arts and developing audiences. We plan a programme of 6 to 8 shows each day, some with a military theme and others with different themes.

The producer will:

  • Liaise with the visiting companies: gathering information from them about marketing, technical and access considerations
  • Assist the visiting companies with the Fringe registration process, in liaison with Summerhall’s Programme Co-ordinator
  • Work with the visiting companies, the Army Reserve Centre staff and Summerhall’s production manager to create a schedule for the venue, including build and technical set up time
  • Liaise with Summerhall on technical set up and front of house management
  • Liaise with Summerhall, with the Army @ the Fringe’s PR person and with the Army to develop and to deliver a marketing plan for the venue as a whole
  • Liaise with the Army on venue management
  • Be the first point of contact for the visiting companies, the Army and for Summerhall throughout the Fringe
  • Prepare an evaluation report on the season

We are looking for someone with recent experience of working at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe – with a performing company, at a venue or ideally both. You will be an all-rounder with a good understanding of production and marketing. You will be an experienced project manager with the ability to build good working relationships with a wide variety of people. You will have a good knowledge of contemporary performance and good networks within the theatre and dance industry.
