What is Summerhall?

Summerhall is a world renowned multi-disciplinary arts venue. Summerhall – “One of the world’s great arts venues.” (Mark Cousins, The Guardian 2014) – is a venue for diverse programmes of visual and performing arts. It is a place for all kinds of events, parties, workshops, festivals, weddings and meetings. It is home to a varied community of creative artists and businesses, including a pub, café, brewery and distillery.

Summerhall has fast become a key arts organisation in Edinburgh, at festival time and throughout the year. Its Edinburgh Festival Fringe programmes have “rewired the Fringe” (The Stage), winning multiple Fringe First and Total Theatre awards, and bringing leading theatre- makers to the Fringe.

What are we looking for?

Summerhall is looking for a Temporary Box Office Manager to manage our busy ticketing operations for our Fringe Festival Season which runs in August and includes a season of over 100 different shows and events, as well events that are on sale between June and September.


For the first time, we will be implementing a digital ticketing experience for our audiences, and we are looking for a competent project manager to help us deliver this important piece of work by collaborating with our peer venues and Festival Society colleagues. The post will run from 1st June – 30th September inclusive.


You will be responsible for a team of four Box Office Supervisors who will deputise in your absence and help ensure we deliver an amazing ticketing experience for all our stakeholders.

Our front of house staff will be responsible for providing a front-line ticketing experience, and you will work collaboratively with Front of House managers to develop the competence of our teams through training and support.
