For the second year running we are delighted to announce the Summerhall Courtyard Commission Project and offer one artist the opportunity to create a site specific work to be launched for Fringe 2023 and exhibited on a permanent basis. In light of current events and with cautious optimism for the future we ask artists to submit proposals for artworks that reflect on the theme of ‘Hope’; Hope that art and culture will prevail, serve as a sanctuary, bring us together and make us resilient.
The successful artist or collective of artists will receive a commission fee of £2000 which should include materials and artistic fee.
- The dimensions of the installation site are roughly 8.4m x 3m although the height of the installation may vary.
- Summerhall will arrange installation of the work at a cost independent to the commission fee.
- The materials used should be reasonably durable and weather resistant to ensure longevity.
