This symposium is occasioned by the return visit to Edinburgh of Dr Charissa Terranova, Associate Professor of Aesthetic Studies in the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas).  Charissa’s strong publication record includes most recently The Routledge Companion to Biology and Art, co-edited with Meredith Tromble (2016).  She is currently working on a monograph connecting biology, embryology, and genetics to cybernetic art in the UK during the twentieth century, in which Wad played a major part; and on an anthology on DWT.

The meeting brings together some who worked with “Wad” and in related areas, with others who remain stimulated by his and DWT’s inexhaustible polymathic and artiscient legacy: providing an unique opportunity for those to whom these names are new, to learn about these towering figures.
