Formed in 2004, Jooklo Duo is the hard-hitting tenor sax/drums duo of Virginia Genta and David Vanzan.
In the past six years of restless activity, the couple has toured the US and Europe extensively, performing around five-hundred concerts. Jooklo Duo have collaborated with Sonic Youth, Makoto Kawabata, Sabu Toyozumi, Chris Corsano, Paul Flaherty, Daniel Carter, Bill Nace, and many others.
In 2009, they also began working with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, performing on October 2010 for “Nearly Ninety” at the Barbican Centre in London, together with Takehisa Kosugi (Taj Mahal Travellers) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin). Now they’re back, stripped right back to the pure skronking duo wreaking havoc across the British Isles. – Café Oto
Ash Reid and Liene Rozite
Samples, spoken word and disorientation from Edinburgh’s Ash Reid (Scrim, Solipstink) and Glasgow’s Liene Rozite (Muris, Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra). A provocative collaboration which explores the weirder recesses of sound – with a recent cut up on Google Useless Radio.
The solo project of Eric Hardiman, a new and noisy Edinburgh resident by way of Albany, New York. Zoned out drones and krautrock explorations from a stalwart of the DC hardcore scene and collaborator in Century Plants with ex-Deadline vocalist Ron Hare, Eric also runs the excellent Tape Drift Records and is a regular contributor to Foxy Digitalis.
Please access from Hope Park Terrace and not the main entrance of Summerhall. Jooklo will be performing an acoustic set on the night.
