A celebratory retrospective of the work of the maverick performer and self-proclaimed ‘Art Gangster’. A magpie mix of Ian’s art, archive performance, film, music and ‘pulptures’. As self-proclaimed ‘Jack of all trades, Master of none’, Ian exploited different art forms, visual art, comedy, performance, compering, music, cartoons, street theatre and television. Juxtaposing as many of them as possible, he made something that was new and accessible. He was a master of the quick idea and supported and encouraged artists and performers of all kinds.
This replica of Ian’s studio in Glasgow demonstrates the cross references and influences within his work as well as his belief that anything can be art.
