The workshop will engage both children (pre-school and primary ages) and their parents on the topic of bilingualism and code mixing. Through creative collective writing, illustrations and physical theatre will explore myths, facts and creative potential of growing up with two or more languages. Both bilingual and English-only children will learn new words in Polish and English while celebrating the linguistic diversity of Scotland.

Workshop will be delivered by Katarzyna Przybycien and Prof. Antonella Sorace from Billingualism Matters Centre at the Edinburgh University. Bilingualism Matters’ main aims are to raise awareness and profile of bilingualism in society and to empower bilingual families, children an adults.

Funded by BEMIS Scotland via the 2017 Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology. This is a partnership between BEMIS Scotland and the Scottish Government to facilitate diverse, multicultural celebrations.
Child ticket holders can only enter the festival with the parent/guardian who is then responsible for them throughout the event.
Parent/guardian don’t need a separate ticket for any of the workshops.
