"Performing under the aegis of Ad Spectatores during the International Meeting of One-Actor Theatres in Wroclaw, Agata Kucińska mesmerised the audiences as well as international participants with her puppet version of Lidia Amejko’s “The Lives of the High-Rise Saints”. “Saints”, which follows Kucińska’s version of Vyrypayev’s “Dreams”, is the second one-woman puppet show from this magnificent actress and hugely imaginative puppeteer. It is one of the most innovative and creative puppet shows performed in Wroclaw in years. "

This is the story of the residents of a housing estate. The residents suspect the estate was formed by a divine concrete mixer outside the plan of creation. They gather on the roof of one of the blocks to change their sad status of incidental, unwanted children. They want a legend, each individually, which would give them immortality and a feeling of safety.

“You are nobody if you are not described in beautiful words first,” says one of its residents. We look at the grey, concrete reality of cities like an ascetic desert, which gives birth to saints, martyrs and, mystics…

Please note, the Summerhall programme notes the events start time as 20.00, this is a missprint, it is in fact at 19.00.
