We think heart health is as important as it is fascinating and therefore we invite you to join us and cardiovascular researchers from the University of Edinburgh in ASCUS Lab to explore the workings of your own heart and see what makes your ticker tick! In this unique sensory and hands-on workshop you will get the chance to peer inside your own heart as it contracts, visualise the electrical impulses that are rushing through your heart with every beat and see your own cheek cells glow down a microscope using fluorescence microscopy technique. We will be on hand to chat to you about health and disease and you’ll even get to do a bit of ‘real science’ yourself! Come play with our science tools including ECG, ultrasound and stethoscopes and learn more about this tireless workhorse in all of us!
