Outlander – the story of a time travelling nurse who was transported back to Scotland in the 1740s – has captured the imagination of millions around the globe, helping to turn it into a worldwide phenomenon. With filming for its fourth season already in full swing, there’s never been a better time to visit the Scottish locations chosen to bring this story to life.

Up until 2011, Summerhall was the home of Edinburgh’s celebrated Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. Built in 1913, it’s now an arts and performance venue as well host to a microbrewery and gin distillery. It’s here in the old anatomy lecture theatre that we see Claire first start her medical studies in season three.
