I Guess If The Stage Exploded…

Three Weeks / Polly Davidson

Sylvia Rimat wants her audience to remember her – as she is, in the present, standing perfectly still with a lampshade on her head and a live eagle owl stage left. Combining Skype, falconry, audience participation and memory exercises, ‘I Guess If The Stage Exploded…’ is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Rimat is wonderfully deadpan; understated, yet quirkily charismatic as she asks the audience to close their eyes, to imagine her the next time they leave their homes and to try to rescue these shared moments from the annals of obscurity. Never testing her audience on what they’ve memorised, the show slows to a stop, rather than effectively climaxing. Yet, Rimat succeeds: her performance is highly memorable, and irrefutably charming.
