Crawling King Snake

Saul Smith and Kirstin Halliday

2016 NME nominee for ‘Voice of a Generation’, Saul Smith is BACK with a rendition of his favourite blues track.  With charisma to spare, he could charm the pants off even the stiffest of voyeurs. He proves he truly is The Crawling King Snake. But what king is complete without his mate?

Saul Smith, frontman of award-winning pseudo indie group The Demoters, is now paving a strong solo career for himself, following the band’s fourth hiatus due to internal artistic differences. Saul is the drag persona of artist Playmobile, born from her undying love for the hyper-masc idols of her youth whose musical genii, intellect, poetry and of course, sexual prowess vibrantly powered her through adolescence. Playmobile becomes Saul to laugh in the face of the fictitious disenfranchisement of the female bodied from such potency, and to irreverently celebrate gender and sexuality for all it can and might be.

Kirstin Halliday is a dance artist based in Glasgow. Their movement practice emerged from the convergence of their research in Human Geography, specifically embodied social geographies, and their lifelong enjoyment and interest in dance. Kirstin’s current interests include: reptile embodiment, back-up dancing, postmodern movement scores and erotic performance.
