Sam the Sword – Drew Taylor-Wilson
Tue 28 May 11:30-12:30 / 16:45-17:45
Sam the Sword is a performance about a transgender tropical fish, and his journey of self-discovery. We are a full gender-non-conforming / trans team making a poetic fishy tale that normalises the idea of trans people for children and their parents, celebrating self-expression. In nature, it’s very common for fish to change gender – and it can happen even in a household tropical fish tank. We are using this little-known-nugget of mother nature’s brilliance to shed light onto trans identities, creating a story where a trans person is accepted by their family and the joy they find in fully stepping – swimming – into themselves. For ages 10+
Writer/director – Drew Taylor-Wilson
Performer/dramaturg – Afton Moran
Sound/dramaturg – Bobbie Carr
Visuals/dramaturg – Indie McCue
