Under the Olive Tree, Sound of Resistance

A fundraiser for Gaza.

On March 2, we will be bringing together a variety of musicians, poets and artists to perform at Summerhall, offering sounds of resistance in the name of solidarity, awareness and raising more money for those in need in Gaza.

The line-up features poetry from some faces that will be familiar if you’ve been to our previous events, and some new, as well as Palestinian and Arabic music from traditional to more contemporary.

● Bashir Saade playing Nay and Tarek Beshir playing the oud, performing a selection of instrumentals, muwashshahat, and adwar from the Arabic classical repertoire.
● Aidan O’Rourke playing with Bashir Saade, creating a conversation between arabic and celtic music.
● Courtney Stoddart, Janette Apache, Noon Salah Eldin and Aisha Husain will perform poems and short readings throughout the evening.
● Zarifattoul-Assamer will perform dabke.
● Dj Shahrazadi will close our evening. A duo inspired by azadi, meaning freedom.
