July 25, 2017 Summerhall Artist Development Programme We’re inviting applications for the first Summerhall Lab, to run from Monday 11 – Friday 15 December 2017. The pilot comprises: two Labs, offering artists time, space and money to develop new work, two Scratch nights, offering artists the chance to try out an idea in front of an audience, and four Space development weeks, offering artists in-kind space to develop new work. Our aims are to formalise the ad hoc ways in which we currently support artists, to extend and diversify our networks, to test out some ways of working and to identify where Summerhall can helpfully contribute to creative development opportunities for artists in Edinburgh in particular, and also including those based elsewhere in Scotland. What do I get? Free development space for one week (Monday 11 – Friday 15 December) in the Old Lab at Summerhall. A budget of up to £3000 to pay yourself, your collaborators and for any materials or production costs for the week. A sharing of work in progress at the end of your development week, to which we will invite industry professionals, other artists, Summerhall staff and Summerhall residents. A facilitated conversation with the audience at the end of the sharing, and the opportunity to continue the conversation in the bar afterwards. Advice and support from Summerhall’s programming team and other departments where appropriate/requested. Technical support for the sharing. Basic video documentation of the sharing. How do I apply? Please download the Summerhall Lab call-out. When’s the deadline The deadline for proposals is 9am on Thursday 28 September. We will get back to you by Friday 6 October. Good luck! We look forward to hearing from you.
