Mediterraneo and Nothing Ever Happens Here present Carnevale 2016! A wild night of Balkan brass, Italian Pizzica, Greek rembetiko, and masks… lots of masks!

It’s that time of the year when the world is upside-down. When Harlequin the Servant is master for the day. When the Fool is wise, the King is poor, and Music rules them all!

After sell out editions since 2013, Mediterraneo is back with its annual Carnevale concert, and this year it’ll be bigger than ever, with the mighty Orkestra del Sol, The Badwills and Niavent on stage.

Headlining the night are Edinburgh’s very own, world famous, 9 piece brass maestros, Orkestra del Sol. They are the honk-step pioneers, bringing the swagger of a Balkan wedding band mixed with their own brand of klezmer and global funk.

“Magnificent!” (The Independent). “Brilliant musicians” (Time Out) “Brass-bound lunacy” (The Scotsman). You can see more about them on their facebook and website.

Warming up your dancing feet before them will be Mediterraneo’s hosts, The Badwills, bringing you the wildest tambourine fueled Pizzica, Tarantella and Tammurriata from the South of Italy.

“Five stars… not to be missed” Edinburgh Festivals Magazine. You can see more about them on their facebook and website and watch them in action at Mediterraneo here

Opening the night with all the power, charm and passion of Greece will be Niavent, performing a show of Rembetiko and Laiko music, with their bouzouki and guitar weaving around a voice so beautiful even your mask will smile.

Come, and tell your friends, shine your dancing shoes, and don’t forget to wear your best mask (or costume!).
