Technical Positions, Fringe 2015

Technical Positions, Fringe 2015

_ Venue: null

Summerhall are now looking for technicians for this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

With a new technical management team in place for 2015, we’re looking forward to making this our most successful fringe yet. Last year saw us host over 1700 performances over the course of the Fringe, with companies from across the world as well as some of the best from closer to home presenting a massive range of cutting edge performance art and theatre. To present such an artistically, logistically and technically challenging programme we need a team of dedicated, hard working and passionate technicians. We have a range of positions to fill, mostly venue technicians but also some swing/general fixer positions. Work ethic and team spirit is just as valuable as technical expertise.

Work will include a period of fitting out and building venues, technical rehearsals, and subsequently working as venue, swing or site technicians, assisting visiting companies with changeovers and eventually stripping venues and returning them to their regular year round state.

Technicians will need to have a good working knowledge of sound for live performance, potentially including live music, stage lighting including operation of DMX desks, patching, focussing and working to lighting plans, and some familiarity with video projection. Some training will be given on-the-job for specific equipment used.

Ipaf, Pasma and other relevant industry qualifications are desirable but not essential for all positions. Work will involve long days, some intense physical activity and some very early starts and late finishes. Dates are provisionally 19th July to 3rd September.

Obviously these are paid positions, rates will be discussed at interview. Interested parties should apply with cover letter & cv to recruitment@summerhall.co.uk

Closing date for applications is 24th of April.

Brian Hutchison, Fringe Technical Manager
