After the steel mill they work at shuts down, a group of unemployed men decide to get involved in the stripping business to earn a living. They invest the money they have saved to get started. It won the BAFTA Award for Best Film, and was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Musical or Comedy Score, winning the last.
