What makes a good idea for a show?’ can be a deceptively tricky question to answer, and doubly so when the aim is to create a show that is visually driven, or without words.

In this workshop for visual theatre performers, Al Seed will work with participants to explore approaches to identifying, developing and pitching ideas for future shows with audiences, presenting partners and collaborators in mind. Participants will have the opportunity to talk through their own show ideas, and be supported to develop these ideas into viable funding proposals, utilising Al’s work as the director of national mentoring programme Waypoint-1.

Al Seed is a performance maker with over 20 years’ experience. His work in visual / physical theatre and dance has earned him Fringe First, Herald Angel, Herald Little Devil and Total Theatre Awards. He has delivered projects in Japan, Australia, Malaysia and throughout Europe. He has been the resident mentor at Dance Base, Edinburgh, as well as the artist in residence for the Arches, Glasgow, and the Byre Theatre, St. Andrews. From 2009-2014 he was the founding Artistic Director of Surge, Scotland’s national organisation for physical performance.
