Hannah Lavery is a poet, playwright, short story writer, and currently Edinburgh’s Makar, with a list of writing awards longer than any arm. Her poetry lilts from the page, speaking with a gentle urgency on issues like racism, cultural identity, and belonging. Having quickly become one of Scotland’s most-loved writers, her debut collection ‘Blood Salt Spring’ was released earlier this year. Inside it, Lavery writes inspiring and inspired work, speaking out on issues of social justice, as well as familial moments of joy.

Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan is a disrupter. A poet, writer, and educator, her poetry seeks to interrupt commonly accepted understandings of history, race, knowledge, and violence. Her poetry has been published widely, with her debut collection ‘Postcolonial Banter’ heralded as a must-read from a young British voice, at once brave and vulnerable, fierce and compassionate.

In association with The Skinny.
