Lubomyr Melnyk is one of the greatest pianists of our time – some consider him to be the greatest pianist alive because of his extraordinary virtuosity —which he uses to create astounding effects on the piano that no one has ever been able to do before… because no one has had the fingers to do it before!
He is called The Prophet Of The Piano – for his monk-like devotion to the piano, and his ability to play at “super-sonic” speeds of over 19.5 notes per second in each hand … something that no other pianist has even dreamt of doing!
Lubomyr is the creator of CONTINUOUS MUSIC for piano … which opened a whole new world of the piano. In the mid-70´s, he explored concepts of piano playing that combined the Classical piano technique with the transcendental philosophies of the Martial Arts, Tai Chi and Kung Fu, and Zen.
His mastery has taken the piano – and his audiences – into completely new dimensions (as some listeners say, “transported”).
His new approach to the piano, with his complex note-generations, give rise to a New Voice to the piano, where you can sometimes hear a full orchestra or sounds of nature! The ambient character of his music has attracted a growing audience who find the multi-dimensional sound experience to be a fresh and wonderful new face in the world of the piano!
Between 1980 and 1990, he released six albums, two of which were double lp-s, and his “The SONG OF GALADRIEL” was listed as “one of the 10 most important albums of our time “ by the New York STEREO REVIEW MAGAZINE…. Since 2002 he has released about 16 new digital albums including “Illirion” on SONY Classical. He is well-known at music festivals and presenting concerts all over the world, —- throughout all of Europe, North America, and China.
