What is the Job…

We are seeking a Finance Manager to lead on delivering core financial functions to Summerhall with attention to detail and efficiency. This will include accounts receivable & payable, payroll, management reporting, budget forecasting and financial reporting. The Finance Manager will report to the Chief Executive and Director and will have responsibility for the department’s day to day finances.

Who are we looking for…

As Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include overseeing end-to-end finance operations, financial planning and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, looking to make improvements to procedures and controls, as well as ad-hoc projects and requests as and when they come up.

Main Purpose of Role…

  • Managing Summerhall’s regular day to day business cycle including overseeing all transactional processes, including purchasing, accounts payable, expense claims, accounts receivable, weekly and monthly journals and banking
  • Prepare and maintain a comprehensive monthly management reports, including financial performance analyses and KPI summaries
  • Monitor cash flow and competently manage the company budget with accurate forecasting sent to Senior Management
  • Undertake credit control and be the point of contact for escalation cases
  • Assist Department Managers with pricing analysis and project specific profitability analysis
  • Analyse financial data and provide key insights to support decision-making for Senior Management Team
  • Prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Manage external relationships with tax advisors, accountants, and bank
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures where appropriate
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns and be the main contact for HMRC
  • PAYE submission and payment
  • Payroll through Sage 50 Payroll for 45 core year-round staff and 150 casual Fringe staff
  • Treasury management and bank account reconciliation
  • Profit & Loss reporting with Department budget holders (Food & Beverage, Events, Fringe, Visual Arts, Central Overheads, Maintenance)
  • Box Office reconciliation and Fringe ticket settlement
  • Reconciliation of petty cash
  • Pensions administrator for Group Pension Scheme
  • Preparation of Year End reports to submit to accountants

Required Skills/Qualification/Experience

  • Proficiency in financial software (Xero), Sage Payroll 50, and MS Excel
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task and use judgement
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment
  • Experience working with a wide array of key stakeholders

Desirable Skills/Qualification/Experience

  • ACCA/CIMA qualified or Qualified by Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager in a similar role
  • Experience working in an Arts or  Fringe venue
  • Experience working with Charity finances

  • The desired start date for this role would be early May.  This can be finalised after the appointment of the role.
